Today at school we were checking on 'Zero Waste'

We checked the rubbish bins in the classrooms and the staff room

We discovered that Taio Room was not very good at 'Zero Waste'

We took the rubbish out and put it in our classroom. 

We divided it into compost, recycling, and rubbish 

The compost was put in the compost pocket.

The recycling was put it in the bin. 

The Principal's bin was pretty good with Zero Waste

The other rooms, Pepeke, Manu and Awa were pretty good also. 

So overall our school did a a pretty good job at Zero Waste. 

Our class is the best at Zero Waste.

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch (GPGP)

Last week we had to research The Great Pacific Garbage Patch and this week we had to put that information in a newsletter. I liked this because I  learnt what The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is and what it does to the environment. 

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch 

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch which is GPGP. The GPGP is estimated surface of 1.6 million square kilometres, that's like three times of France. The GPGP is halfway between Hawaii and California. The GPGP was only discovered in 1993. GPGP is full of waste/rubbish.

What does it do to animals?

Have you ever thought about what the plastic does to the animals? When the plastic goes into the ocean, the animals think it is food. Turtles think that plastic bag a jellyfish so they eat it then they get sick and sadly die.

What is in the GPGP?

In the GPGP there is soo much plastic in it. It has big and little pieces of plastic. Because of all the plastic it is forming an island.

Drop everything and write

My weekend.
On Monday 24th I Payton, Keton and Kolton went up to my Grandad’s farm we went over to the hut we put in the last row of carpet then we went into town we bort a lux a rubbish bin candy, chocolate, chips and all those nice sweets we got sugar, milo, and tea. Then we put in our camping bunks and fold out couches it is like a mini B&B all need to get the power done and put the lights in. Then it will be our nice hut. You could have breakfast because there is cereal there is a sink with a tap and all that stuff it is really cool!!!

Haere ika!- Go fish

Today we were learning how to say "he ___ tau" Do you have__? After practising the sentences we needed to say and checking our knowledge of the numbers up to 10 we then went and played go fish! This was quite challenging for us as we had a bit to remember but we had a lot of fun.

We have been measuring monster for maths.

Maths Week!

This week is maths week. For day one we are trying to solve problems that involve BEMA. We were put into groups and then had to work together to solve the answers. Some of us found this very difficult as using BEMA was a new concept to us. Here are some photos of us all working together and showing that we are connected.

Friday Beach Time

On the last day of term we went down to the beach to enjoy the winter sunshine. We had a great time working together to build huts and trying to stop the water from destroying our huts.

In the weekend I went to my friend's place. And I had lots of time with them we went on the PS4 we were on it for a while and we got to play red dead 2. And dean was killing emma and me were having so much fun on red dead. But dean did not let me have a turn on the PS4 but emma and me played minecraft. And me and emma was going for diamonds we were not lucky this time. But we found gold iron and coal and it was a good cave.
